Well, I finally got around to posting up my first YouTube video to my channel. The Backyard Pioneer Channel will be a companion channel to this blog and will intergrate with all my other Social Media stuff. So if you like what I do on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter this is just another opportunity to keep up with my goings on.
For my first video I did a brief table top style review, of some of my favorite gear which I usually have floating around in my pockets. I hope you enjoy and as always feedback is always appreciated.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the video! It had good and practical information. My EDC consists of a Juice Pro w/Inova Microlight attached at the lanyard look and Paracord Keychain w/carabiner. Like you I have a few adhesive bandages as well. I don’t carry any other knives but your Spydercos have given me a good idea on what would be practical.

Andy,
Thank you for taking the time to comment it is always appreciated. I’m a big fan of Spyderco, for some reason they just speak to me. If you are looking for a good EDC that isn’t as big as the Endura, might I recommend the Delica. It has very similar ergonomics but is just a bit smaller. It still has great utility though. Another favorite of mine is the Native. I haven’t tried the new one but the older generations were really sweet.
Thanks again,
Mike

Thanks Mike! How do you feel about serrated blades? I have a Delica but it has the full length serrated blade. I like it but don’t carry it as much since I rely mostly on the Leatherman for the utility things I need to do. I think the half or non-serrated would have been more practical. I’ll check out the native though. Do you mostly keep the single folder for self defense?

I like the serrated blades for certain jobs. I find them to be at their best when cutting rope. If I know I’ll be doing a lot of rope work at work I’ll bring my half serrated original Manix.
I end up using my folder as my primary cutting tool and look at the blade on the Leatherman as a back up. I guess I could use it for self defense but after seeing a fellow bouncer get cut up pretty good the last thing I want is to be in a knife fight!
