I was thinking that I’d like to do a post on the blogs I regularly check out. It would be easy to list the usual suspects like The Survival Podcast, The Self Sufficient Gardener, Country Consultant, or Punk Domestics but I wanted to delve a little deeper into my Blogroll. In no particular order:
Beat Unemployment is a relatively new blog that has grabbed me as of late. I’m not even sure how I found this gem but I look forward to each post. Raised bed gardening and Steak Recipes go hand in hand in my book so I hope this blog has staying power.
Urban Farm and Beehives is the blog that is inspiring me to want bees! I love honey so that isn’t to much of stretch. Mil Apostol runs the site, she is a chef with over 20 years experience working in the San Fransisco Bay Area.
Hillbilly Mom is another great blog. I enjoy the “Prepper” bent to the site. They are running a blogging contest over there right now with some pretty cool prizes, so if you’ve got a blog it doubly worth checking out.
Rise and Shine Rabbitry is just starting out. Rick runs the place and he was kind enough to pen a couple of guest blogs for The Backyard Pioneer. His knowledge really does shine through and I look forward to him adding more great content over there.

Mike,
This is so awesome! I really appreciate the call out. I do plan to stick around and keeping posting topics about growing and cooking food, buying land, owner-building, and other self-sufficiency topics.
I also plan to check out the other blogs you read. I already read the Hillbilly Mom so I know that’s a great one. I’ll take a look at the others.
Thanks,
Tony

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the mention. And if you ever get bees, I hope you’ll let me know!
I just went and checked out Beat Unemployment, and it looks good. You were the one that got me on Punk Domestics and Rise and Shine Rabbitry.
I already love TSP and SSG, so since you haven’t steered me wrong yet, I’ll be checking out the others.
